The Department of Medical Sciences has strong commitments in the areas of teaching, research, and service. It provides a broad-based education for veterinary medical students that will prepare them for careers in private practice, education, research, and industry. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, the faculty provide primary care and consultation and referral services for veterinarians through the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and diagnostic consultation services through the Food Animal Production Medicine Program. Both basic and clinically-applied research is conducted by the faculty.
